The Mount Vernon Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras achieved high ratings at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Large Group adjudicated event, held May 15–16 at Licking Valley High School. In addition to their evaluated stage performances, both ensembles participated in a post-concert clinic with an OMEA adjudicator.

Three Mount Vernon High School students submitted artwork to the International Violin Art Competition known as JESA.

The Ohio Youth Governor's Art Exhibition took place on March 7th, 2026. There were 5,787 entries from high school students grades 9-12 from across the state with 1167 regional winners. Our region had 420 entries and 82 artworks were selected as regional winners . Congratulations to Bella Glorius, Mariah Huerte, Garrett O'Quin, and Kennedy Howard for being selected as Regional Winners.

The Mount Vernon High School Chorale, directed by Trevor Garrabrant, received a Superior rating on their concert performance at the OMEA District 10 Large Group Event at Newark High School on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Five Mount Vernon Middle School musicians performed with the OMEA East-Central Region Honors Orchestra at Olentangy Orange High School on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Senior artist Kennedy earned state-level recognition as her artwork was selected for display at the Ohio Statehouse for the next two years. She will also receive a $100 award for her achievement this fall.

Mount Vernon High School junior Archimedes “Archie” Meyer performed as a soloist with the Knox County Symphony on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Held at Kenyon College, the concert featured Meyer performing the Telemann Viola Concerto in G.

Two Mount Vernon High School musicians performed with the OMEA East-Central Region Orchestra at Granville High School on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Lily Grace, cello, was selected through audition and Jamison Major, horn, was nominated by his orchestra director, Anthony Springer.
