Meyer performs with Knox County Symphony

GAMBIER, OHIO — Mount Vernon High School junior Archimedes “Archie” Meyer performed as a soloist with the Knox County Symphony on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Held at Kenyon College, the concert featured Meyer performing the Telemann Viola Concerto in G.

The solo opportunity followed Meyer’s success in the Young Musicians Competition, where he earned 2nd place in the high school division.

Meyer is a student of Janet Thompson, taking private viola lessons at Kenyon College. In addition to his solo work and competitive achievements, he is an active member of the MVHS Symphony Orchestra.

The Telemann concerto is a staple of the viola repertoire, and Meyer’s performance highlighted the technical skills he has developed through his private studies and school participation. His 2nd-place finish in the regional competition further marks his progress as a dedicated musician within the Mount Vernon community.
